Power Systems for Critical Infrastructure Inspection
Infrastructure inspection UAVs operate in environments that would ground consumer-grade drones: electromagnetic interference from high-voltage transmission lines, sub-zero temperatures in remote northern locations, corrosive atmospheres near coastal or industrial facilities, and vibration profiles from close-proximity inspection of rotating machinery. FLYVOLT inspection packs are hardened for these conditions.
Electromagnetic Compatibility
High-voltage transmission line inspection exposes UAV systems to intense electromagnetic fields that can interfere with BMS communication and control electronics. FLYVOLT inspection pack BMS modules are EMC-shielded and tested to IEC 61000-4-3 radiated immunity standards. Shielded battery cable harnesses are available as a configuration option.
Cold-Start Performance
Remote infrastructure inspection — pipeline corridors in northern BC, transmission lines in Quebec's boreal zone, wind farms in exposed highland locations — frequently operates in temperatures below -20 °C. FLYVOLT inspection packs incorporate PTC cell heating elements that maintain optimal cell temperature for reliable cold-start down to -40 °C ambient with adequate pre-heating time.
Redundant BMS Architecture
Inspection operations near critical infrastructure require the highest levels of electrical safety. FLYVOLT offers a redundant dual-BMS configuration for inspection applications where a single BMS failure could result in a fly-away or forced landing in a hazardous location. The primary and secondary BMS operate in hot-standby mode with automatic failover.
